Oh to be on the road…

And just like that it is August 1st. Summer feels half over and we have hardly gone camping let alone on a summer road trip – which I was really hoping for.

We did however get over to Tofino for a quick weekend trip at Bella Pacifica campground – forever a favorite. No pictures were taken due to constant beach lounging and beer drinking.

Until our next road trip I will just have to look back over our BC road trip from two summers ago…wow, that long ago already?!

Muncho Lake lunch

This picture may not look like much but it is absolutely one of my favourites. Traveling through the Northern Rocky Mountains Provincial Park on our way towards Liard Hot Springs (!!!) we were met with breathtaking scenery around every bend. Around lunch time we started driving along the emerald green waters of Muncho Lake. We found a pull out, made a quick decision and set up our camping chairs for a highway side lunch.

The next photo up shows our typical set-up and is also a shout-out to our “sponsor” for the trip which happens to be our favourite local watering-hole in North Vancouver.

Stop two: Howes Lake

This was one of my favorite stops on our road trip, probably because it wasn’t raining. We found this rec site by chance as we decided to keep driving and skip the stop we had originally planned. Just after Lac La Hache we took a dirt service road that lead us about 10km in and ended at Hows Lake rec site.

Way, way, overdue.

I am embarrassed by how long I’ve been away from the blog! I guess you could say that thing called life got in the way.

To make up for my lack of presence and to kick off getting back into blogging and writing I plan on sharing my 10 favourite photos from our BC road trip back in September 2016. It is crazy how long ago that feels now. Just a reminder that life can move fast and to get out there and explore what this beautiful world has to offer.

To start off, here is a photo from our very first night on the road at Cottonwood Rec site, after Pemeberton and a bit before Lillooet, British Columbia.

First camping trip is booked!

Ferries and campsite are booked, Pachena Bay here we come! Just a shame we have to wait until September. However, planning (majorly) ahead is key when you live in one of the most beautiful places on earth…ferry reservations and campgrounds fill up FAST at the first sign of summer. Mind you we are planning a Labour day long weekend trip but we were still a little surprised to see multiple ferries already full more than four months in advance! Again, a tribute to British Columbia and it being a world class destination. Pachena Bay has beaches on par with Tofino’s and is also the head of the world-famous West Coast Trail – a 75km long, rugged coast-line trail established by the First Nations. If you don’t know about the WCT, it is worth a little research. An icon of British Columbia, in my opinion.

We did a Pachena Bay camping trip two years ago and absolutely fell in love with the campground and surroundings.
